| Résumé: | When the Germans enter Paris in June 1940, the Alliance library is an internationally respected institution in the field of Jewish studies. It possesses rare written documents and is a useful instrument for academic searchers. From 1940 to 1944, the library is the victim of an organized plundering. At the same period, the occupying forces use it as a stocking place for their spoils. This article aims at showing how the Alliance managed to reorganize a library whose directors keep succeeding to one another. It insists on Edmond-Maurice Levy’s work and on several ambitious projects which proove its vitality. |
