| Resumo: | Description: The astrological fragments of Antigonus of Nicaea (c. 150 AD), especially his horoscope of Emperor Hadrian, are frequently cited. Yet until now, scholars have not had access to a reliable edition of this work, or to the kind of commentary required for a proper interpretation. This critical edition provides for the very first time a thorough presentation of Antigonus s life, work, sources, and reception. The commentary is based on a systematic assessment of all relevant ancient handbooks and horoscopes. This new edition is aimed at classical philologists, historians of astrology, classical historians, and religious historians |
