This paper examines the career of the anthropologist and film-maker and his scientific and artistic contribution to anthropology and to the cinema. It is mainly based on two series of interviews conducted by the author with Jean Rouch in 1989/90, while he was shooting Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité, et puis après… on the occasion of the centenary of the French Revolution, and in 2003-2004 a few months before his death. |
