This study explores the function, symbolism, and meaning of loomweights within sacred contexts, by focusing on their spatial distribution and function in relation to contexts and architectural setting. Taking the Late Bronze Age temples at Kition-Kathari as a case study, spatial pattern distributions of loomweights are analysed to examine the object’s functional and symbolic roles. The paper further investigates the relationship between the textile workshop and the temples at Kition, exploring the connection between textile industry and religion in Cyprus. Drawing upon contemporary evidence from the island, the study seeks to understand whether loomweights held cultic significance and considers their potential role as votive offerings. Résumé. Cette étude explore la fonction, la symbolique et la signification des pesons de métier à tisser dans des contextes sacrés, en se concentrant sur leur distribution spatiale et leur rôle en lien avec leurs contextes et cadre architectural. Prenant pour étude de cas les temples de la fin de l’Âge du Bronze à Kition-Kathari, la répartition spatiale des pesons est analysée afin d’examiner leurs fonctions à la fois pratiques et symboliques. Cet article s’intéresse également à la relation entre l’atelier de tissage et les temples de Kition, explorant le lien entre l’industrie textile et la religion à Chypre. En s’appuyant sur des données contemporaines provenant de l’île, l’étude cherche à déterminer si les pesons de métier revêtaient une signification cultuelle et envisage leur rôle potentiel en tant qu’offrandes votives.
