In the first part, we explain the specificity of statistical models for analyzing network structure and give a brief history of the major models proposed in the past which produced dynamic models such as Siena. We then present the basis on which Siena is constructed and we discuss the theoretical implications. Model specification follows with a presentation of the principal effects which can be studied with this model. We end with an example of application on a network of international friendships. L’objectif de cet article est d’expliquer les principes de fonctionnement du modèle statistique Siena pour l’analyse longitudinale de réseaux sociaux totaux. Dans un premier temps, nous expliquons la spécificité des modèles statistiques pour analyser les structures des réseaux ainsi qu’une brève histoire des principaux modèles apparus pour y parvenir, débouchant sur les modèles dynamiques dont Siena fait partie. Ensuite nous exposons les postulats sur lesquels est bâti le modèle Siena et nous discutons leur réalisme théorique. Suit la spécification du modèle et les effets principaux qu’on peut étudier au moyen de ce modèle. Nous finissons avec un exemple d’application sur un réseau d’amitié international.
