The conclusion is that few of the traits are totally unique to the eastern region, but (a) they are found in greater concentration in the eastern region than anywhere else in Insulindia, and (b) when found in Insulindia outside the eastern region, it is typically in regions where neither gamelan music nor Muslim music predominate. Two hypotheses are briefly formulated to explain these findings.
