The paper concludes with a close study of a traditional rowing song which survives with only four couplets, and details how it might be extended to render it usable. Cet article se penche sur une sélection de chants à ramer originaires de l’archipel des Hébrides, notamment sur les contingences qui influent sur leur forme et leur mise en musique et en voix : les différents types d’embarcation et de chargement, ainsi que les conditions de navigation. L’article étudie ces airs et chants dans leur contexte, et se conclut par une analyse d’un chant à ramer traditionnel dont seuls quatre distiques subsistent. A ceux-là l’auteur, musicien et musicologue, propose une suite.
