This tendency toward reification has spread widely in Western culture and seems to have consequences on the structuration of the subject’s personality, particularly taking the form of an alteration of their capacity to play and dream. In this regard, we propose to consider certain contemporary psychopathological expressions as pathologies of dreaming, disorders that involve the most fundamental aspects of the constitution of the psyche. We also examine how such conceptions transform the way analytic practices, particularly those drawing on the theories of Winnicott and Bion, are conceived. Psychoanalysis thus emerges as a space for play and dreaming based on the primacy of recognition, offering a means of counterbalancing the tendency toward reification. Cairn restricted access |
