When French psychoanalysts took them up, this legacy shattered their existing working frameworks, which were restricted to a cursory reading of Freud’s early definitions and the hitherto limited scope of psychoanalytic practice.Cet article trace l’histoire des « variantes de la cure-type » autrement que mentionnées par Lacan. Expériences inaugurales de Freud et de Ferenczi, reprises par Eitingon et Alexander à Berlin, elles immigrent à Chicago et à Boston. À partir de la fin des années 1940, elles engendrent des controverses, mais ces divergences n’engendrent pas des scissions.
