On the Political Engagement of Intellectuals and Psychoanalysts. his paper takes the example of Freud, Arendt, Spinoza, Chomsky and Bourdieu as a starting point for examining the political engagement of intellectuals and psychoanalysts. Particular attention is paid to the dimension of belonging in their specific choice of commitment. The concept of truth in psychoanalysis is compared with that in the field of human and political science. A recent case of political engagement on the part of psychoanalysts in France to obtain the liberation of an Iranian psychoanalyst who had been forcibly hospitalized in Tehran, serves to demonstrate the theoretical arguments presented.
