Parents’ strategies tend to fall into two main categories: those based on enforcing strict rules and those taking a more indirect approach, favouring negotiation. In this context, being a cannabis-using parent has significant implications for detecting adolescent consumption. The study shows that parents’ experiential knowledge can serve both as a resource and an educational tool in managing their child’s cannabis use.Cet article présente les résultats d’une recherche en sciences sociales, réalisée par l’Observatoire français des drogues et des tendances addictives (OFDT), sur le contrôle parental des usages juvéniles de cannabis. Des entretiens semi-directifs ont été menés entre 2020 et 2021 auprès de 28 parents d’adolescents usagers âgés de 16 et 17 ans. Les stratégies qu’ils mobilisent se polarisent entre celles basées sur la mise en place de règles strictes et celles plus indirectes qui privilégient la négociation. Dans ce cadre, le fait d’être un parent usager de cannabis a d’importantes conséquences dans le repérage des consommations. L’article montre ainsi que la mobilisation du savoir expérientiel se révèle à la fois une ressource et un levier éducatif pour les parents rencontrés.Cairn free access |
