Descripción
Sumario:This article explores the phenomenon of casas particulares, guest houses in Havana operated by Italian-Cuban couples. Based on ethnographic field research conducted in the Cuban capital, the study delves into the partners’ mobility trajectories, business practices, and intimate dynamics. It reveals how Italian entrepreneurs, initially visiting the island as tourists, enter into marriages with Cuban partners, blending economic and romantic aspirations into transnational couple-run businesses. By adopting a socio-economic perspective, this article seeks to analyse these activities to better understand the formalisation process of transnational couples in Cuba, a country recently opened to tourism and globalisation.
