| Gaia: | Objects of daily life, their conservation and circulation within the family are under-studied in sociology. Based on a literature review and a synthesis of our own work, this article defends the idea that they are indeed relevant tools to analyse kinship relationships and reveals important issues: how are interests and feelings articulated within the family? What is each person's place within the kinship network? What principles of justice do family relationships obey to? How do social relations based on class, gender and generation structure family relationships? This study thus demonstrates that these seemingly trivial practices provide knowledge and offers methodological guidelines for this sociology of the infra-ordinary. |
