Rémi Brague, dans Le Règne de l’homme, déplie une généalogie du projet moderne comme « anthropologie sans contexte » produisant un humanisme de la domination, dont l’échec s’avère inévitable. Ces essais ouvrent ainsi trois voies d’élaboration d’une eschatologie philosophique du temps présent. Philosophical Eschatologies of the Present Three recently published books take on a philosophical analysis of the denouement of history in the present. In Les Cinq Époques de l’histoire (The Five epochs of History), Alain Juranville intends to demonstrate the structural necessity of the current end of history, as the fulfilment of philosophical truth. With La Démoralisation (The Demoralization), Christian Godin connects the contemporary moral crisis with the loss of meaning generated by the capitalistic world, ruled by techno-sciences. Rémi Brague, in Le Règne de l’homme (The Reign of Man), unfolds a genealogy of the modern project as a “contextless anthropology” that results in a humanism based on domination, the failure of which is now inevitable.
