Having worked with a wide array of patients over the past decade, the memory clinic team at the Avicenne Hospital has been instrumental in the development, validation, and creation of norms for tests evaluating episodic memory (i.e., TNI-93 and TMA-93) allowing for the detection of dementia and/or, more specifically, Alzheimer’s Disease. This organization, along with other international teams, has played a major role in addressing this important resource gap. The aims of this narrative review are as follows: to provide an overview of the recent advances in tests developed for older populations with a low level of education and/or from a multicultural background, and to present more recent developments that may offer promising clinical prospects. Finally, we emphasize the importance of the psychologist’s clinical approach, with neuropsychological tests being just one tool in their arsenal, especially in a cross-cultural context.Face à la diversité (éducationnelle, linguistique et culturelle) grandissante des consultants reçus dans les centres Mémoire en France métropolitaine, l’usage de tests neuropsychologiques adaptés à l’évaluation de cette population s’impose comme une nécessité. L’expérience acquise depuis plus d’une décennie à la consultation mémoire de l’hôpital Avicenne a permis de développer, normaliser et valider des épreuves permettant l’évaluation de la mémoire épisodique (TNI-93 et TMA-93) dans le contexte du repérage de la démence et/ou de la maladie d’Alzheimer. Cette revue narrative a pour objectifs de proposer une synthèse des outils développés pour l’évaluation d’une population âgée de faible niveau éducatif et/ou d’origine multiculturelle et de présenter des avancées plus récentes pouvant offrir des perspectives cliniques prometteuses. Enfin, nous insistons sur l’importance de l’approche clinique du psychologue où le test est un outil parmi d’autres, et ce a fortiori dans un contexte d’interculturalité.Cairn restricted access |
