With the notion of “threshold”, then, Blumenberg gives us the image of the possible coexistence of two different epochs. In this way, Nicholas of Kues and Giordano Bruno become themselves the symbol of the impossibility of conceiving history in terms of “epochs” and, consequently, of interpreting modernity in this way.Cairn free access
