Son cas illustre le phénomène d’intégration des bâtards dans les cours princières.Guy, bastard of Burgundy, born in 1405 or 1406, was an illegitimate son of duke John the Fearless. He entered the Burgundian court in 1421. Duke Philip the Good, his half-brother, took care of his education and promotion. He appointed a “gouverneur” to watch over him and initiated him into court life and the military profession. In 1426, he sent him on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, so he could be knighted there. But Guy died during the journey. His case illustrates the phenomenon of the integration of bastards into princely courts.Cairn restricted access |
