La littérature de fiction du Moyen Âge central offre toutefois un certain nombre d’occurrences du bourrel qui invitent à s’interroger sur les rapports que cette littérature entretient avec la réalité judiciaire de son époque de production.Looking for an “official executioner” in the archive documents, iconography, and chronics yields limited results; in fact, it is particularly difficult to find significant references to the executioner before the end of the Middle Ages. However, the fictional literature of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries gives a certain number of occurrences of the bourrel that questions the relationships between this literature and the judicial reality.Cairn free access |
