Riassunto:Latin-American Armies : Back on Stage The need of democracy and more specifically of better life conditions has given a new political legitimacy to Latin-American armies. Moreover, the new Latin-American alliance with the United States, based on the war against drugs and terrorism, has favoured the mobilization of Latin-American armed forces. This double legitimation movement has been welcomed positively by the military, unhappy to be relegated of power, and without having precise missions to accomplish since the advent of new democratic Latin-American regimes. Armies have not doubted on taking advantage of this situation, first improving their revenues through budgetary measures, and seldom by an increase of their political influence.
