I argue that there is ultimately little methodological and conceptual continuity between their respective versions. The article briefly concludes with the evolution of the Wilsonian RG from 1965 to the early 1970s.Les méthodes du groupe de renormalisation (GR) sont l’un des chefs-d’œuvre théoriques de la physique d’après-guerre dont les ressorts historiques restent encore largement inappréciés. Cet article retrace la genèse du GR de Kenneth Wilson de 1956 à 1965, en se penchant tout particulièrement sur sa relation avec le GR de Murray Gell-Mann et Francis Low publié en 1954. Je défends la thèse selon laquelle il n’y a, au final, que très peu de continuité méthodologique et conceptuelle entre leurs versions respectives. L’article conclut brièvement sur l’évolution du GR wilsonien de 1965 jusqu’au début des années 1970.Cairn free access
