The persecution of the Jews also played a role in this process. Jewish artists and art dealers were dispossessed, some even deported, and some Jewish stores were converted into exhibition spaces celebrating the glory of the Nazi regime. Then the revenues from the liquidation of Jewish property were used to finance the Germanization, which included buying art for the future Landesmuseum planned in Luxembourg city. After the war the focus turned to the patriotic or antipatriotic behavior of individuals, bringing to the fore figures of the Resistance—or people perceived as such—and leaving many questions unanswered.
