A detailed study of these three cases illustrates the different attitudes of the department leaders. The General Secretariat used Vichy’s laws opportunistically to dismiss psychotic employees, and the Rural Engineering and Forestry Departments attempted to circumvent the law in order to retain highly esteemed agents. This article also studies the administrative and judicial response to the three cases after Liberation.Cairn free access
