Shrnutí:The fascist anti-Jewish legislation in the European contextThis paper examines the anti-Jewish legislation enacted by the Fascist regime between 1938 and 1943 by situating it in the context of the anti-Semitic legislation of the era and offers a comparative perspective. The paper describes and analyzes certain shared characteristics and differences with regards to the legislation’s initial phase, which ended in roughly 1939. Among other points, the paper gives particular attention to the possible influence of Hitler’s Germany on Mussolini’s Italy, the comparison of different definitions of the word “Jew” and the ban on “mixed race” marriages that was listed in the different pieces of legislation.
