Streszczenie:This article reflects on the ways in which historical accounts change after those who gave them are gone. We look at works that explore the difficult middle ground between the historical reality of the extermination of the European Jews and the collective European, or even universal, memory of these acts. The perspective of research has shifted with Hélène Cixous’ introduction of the concept of “after-vival,” in contrast with “survival.”
