| 要約: | This article discusses the ways in which private diaries reflect current-day depictions of the Holocaust. We examine the reasons why Jews who were the victims of racial persecution kept private diaries. We analyze and compare four diaries that were written in German, three of which were written prior to deportation. Willy Cohn and Walter Tausk wrote their dairies in Breslau, Silesia, before being deported in November 1941 and Victor Klemperer wrote his diary in Dresden before being deported in 1945. The fourth diary, that of Oskar Rosenfeld, was written in the Lodz ghetto between November 1941 and August 1944. We study several of the purposes that were served by these diaries: providing historical testimony in order to counter the falsification of history by the Nazis, chronicling persecution and leading a research project to find meaning through the diaries. |
