The type of document presented here is unique. Written in yiddish by Jewish police officers, who could not avoid being involved in deportations, it consists in an attempt to make a self-examination, if not a self-justification. By the end of 1942, among the 151 police officers, 40 lost life in 1944, after enduring horrid tortures in Fort no. 9, for having refused to hand over the children and the resistants. The others collaborated with the Germans until the end.Cairn free access
