Lublin acquired its special function for the Holocaust during the second half of 1941, when the SS and Police leader Odilo Globocnik was entrusted with setting up extermination camps in his realm. In summer 1942 he was entrusted in killing all Jews from the General Governement and Bialystok area. Globocnik also wanted to set up a system of forced labor camps for Jews, but all inmates were killed in November 1943.Cairn free access
