Sumari:The Words to Say ItThe plaques recalling the deportation of Jewish children carry an inscription that combines the Nazi explanation of the genocide perpetrated with the Jewish identity of the victims : “The children of this school were murdered by the Nazis with the complicity of the Vichy government and its police because they were born Jewish.”The article raises questions about the implicit meanings suggested by this formulation and the distorted readings of the Holocaust that it can engender : are Jews defined only by anti-Semitism and racism which victimized them ? How was racism which victimized European Jews subsequently turned as a charge against them ?
