| Sažetak: | French Protestantism facing the Holocaust and anti-Semitism from 1945 to the presentThe French Reformed Protestants began to create an historical account in 1945, at their General Assembly gathering and in a publication, of their attitude and response to Jews and to the Deportation. They subsequently created an actual legend centering around Chambon-sur-Lignon, the Protestant hiding place for Jews. As early as the 1940s, theologians began questioning the roots of this anti-Judaism. Calvin was perhaps the first to find a means to liberate Christianity from anti-Judaism, but it continued to thrive in some of his followers through the aftermath of 1945. By pursuing these historical and theological parallel tracks, the French Protestants have written a very specific chapter – today in the process of fading – on relationships between Christians and Jews. |
