This article focuses on the myths and realities relating to the rescuing of (1) the Jews of Budapest ; (2) the 1 684 Jews in the so-called Kasztner Transport ; (3) the thousands of Jews transferred to Strasshof, Austria ; (4) the approximately 80 prominent Orthodox Jewish leaders ; (5) the Weiss-Chorin families ; and (6) the “thousands of Jews” across the Hungarian-Romanian border.
