Riassunto:The author gives us here a short overview of the Holocaust as an element in public discourse, before and after the Eichmann Trial. Starting at the end of the 80s, with the putting into place of Israeli pilgrimages to Poland, the question soon is asked : what lessons should be learned from this extraordinary phenomena : national consolidation ? A reflection on power and the role of might ? A meditation on the universality of the crime that was committed ?As one can imagine, controversy on the Holocaust remains most sensitive inside the State of Israel. The debate concerns not only explicit commemoratory events, but, more important, the oceanic non-expressed context which is at the heart of the relationship entertained by Zionism with Diasporic history. Furthermore, it puts again on the table the question : what was the real reason for the creation of the State of Israel, that hesitates between Hertzel’s concept of a Jewish State-refuge and the ethical mission which Ahad Haam wanted to fulfill.
