Descripció
Sumari:The Dutch historian Ido De Haan shows here how, after a long struggle, Westerbork internment camp, that served as the main anti-chamber to Auschwitz for Dutch Jews, was transformed into a memorial site. The process involved deliberate forgetfulness, rewritings, omissions, concealment and the omnipresent feeling of embarrassement. This was, first and foremost a political struggle, and this paper, dedicated to the memory of the Holocaust in The Netherlands highlights this issue.
