Samenvatting:This paper brings light on the Preparedness movement. As the First World War break down in Europe, the United States become aware of a lingering handicap in the event of military involvement in the conflict. Major demands for National Defense’s reforms were concentrated into the movement for national preparedness. However, the ideas and claims of this political and popular movement were only partially successful. As a result, it was a half-failure, as demonstrated during the Mexican Expedition in 1916.
