Influence of Colonial Warfare on French Commanders in the Great War
This article focuses on the Great War career of four French senior commanders who had extensive experience in colonial warfare: Galliéni, Joffre, Fyautey and Mangin. A related issue is the increasing number of soldiers recruited in the colonies to participate in the fight on the Western Front.
