Streszczenie:Used as a shock unit, the 20th Corps distinguished itself particularly in Verdun and on the Somme in 1916. More than once, it was seen as the spearhead of the French army or as the last rampart in front of assaults of the German army. Circumstances and people are not the only factors which allow explaining this exceptional character.
