Beskrivelse
Summary:This article, which traces the genesis of Commando Kieffer and its participation in the battles of the Liberation of France, also points out that the formation of such a unit was a new step in the constant adaptation of maritime forces to combat conditions, beginning with the establishment in 1625 of the first soldiers of the sea by Richelieu. In terms strangely analogous to those of the establishment of the specialty of marine riflemen in 1856, the creation of Commando Kieffer capitalized on the mastery of new technologies acquired by personnel coming from all units and specialties of the Navy.
