En effet, au-delà du cas particulier de ce livre, il soulève des questions théoriques récurrentes dans l’histoire mondiale des sciences sociales, tenant notamment aux statuts respectifs de l’interactionnisme et du structuralisme et, plus généralement, à l’importance qu’il convient d’accorder aux catégorisations théoriques.The Reception of Erving Goffman’s Frame Analysis in the United States Frame Analysis, one of Erving Goffman’s later works, sparked surprising levels of controversy, both upon publication and in the years that followed, for a book by a researcher of the prominence he enjoyed at that time. It is worth revisiting this episode in the history of American sociology and trying to identify what caused it. Indeed, beyond the specific case of this book, the episode raises theoretical questions that recur throughout the global history of the social sciences, relating especially to the respective statuses of interactionism and structuralism and, more broadly, to the importance that ought to be given to theoretical categorizations. Frame Analysis, obra tardía de Erving Goffman, suscitó cuando se publicó y en los años siguientes una recepción asombrosamente controvertida para tratarse de un investigador de tanto renombre como era él en aquel entonces. Merece la pena reconstituir ese episoio de la historia de la sociología estadounidense e intentar identificar sus causas. En efecto más allá del caso particular de dicho libro, plantea preguntas teóricas recurrentes en la historia mundial de las ciencias sociales, relacionadas en parte con los estatutos respectivos del interaccionismo y del estructuralismo y, de forma más general, con la importancia que se les debe otorgar a las categorizaciones teóricas.Das Spätwerk von Ervin Goffman, Frame Analysis, rief bei Erscheinen und in den folgenden Jahren eine erstaunlich strittige Rezeption hervor für einen in seiner Zeit so anerkannten Forscher. Es lohnt sich, diese Episode der Geschichte der amerikanischen Soziologie nachzuzeichnen und zu versuchen, die Ursachen dafür herauszufinden. In der Tat wirft das wiederholte theoretische Fragen auf in der Weltgeschichte der Sozialwissenschaften, über den Sonderfall dieses Buchs hinaus, besonders in Bezug auf den jeweiligen Status des Interaktionismus und des Strukturalismus, und ganz allgemein, bezüglich der Bedeutung, die den theoretischen Kategorien zukommt.Cairn free access |
