Elle se propose surtout d’amorcer une discussion sur les enjeux épistémologiques d’une rupture difficile à saisir, correspondant au passage d’une « mondialisation par le bas », circonscrite à quelques régions du monde et animée par des entrepreneurs migrants pionniers, à une globalisation générale du cadre des échanges.The discrete chain of value of the autorickshaw. An ethnography of globalizationHow the introduction of the Indian autorickshaw in Egypt sparked the establishment of a transnational chain of value in the urban margins of the Nile Delta ? Following the trajectory of an Indian trader in Egypt, this article shows improbable continuities and connections between places networks and people networks. It mainly aims to initiate a discussion on an epistemological rupture that is still difficult to grasp, corresponding to the passage of a “globalization from below”, limited to a few regions of the world, and led by pioneer migrant-entrepreneurs, to a general globalization of the framework of exchange.Cairn free access
