Sumari:The situation of supervising psychoanalytic training analyses is fraught with difficulties. The supervising analyst is in the paradoxical position of supporting, but also of judging the analyst in training, whom he or she must help. Supervisees are particularly vulnerable because they are necessarily exposing themselves while taking their first steps, and tend to reproduce what they have experienced in their own analysis. The other element is linked to the fact that supervisees have a conception of the psychoanalytic treatment that derives directly from their personal analysis. This was carried out in a way that necessarily differs, admittedly to a greater or lesser extent, from the supervisor’s options, particularly in the mode of intervention and the management of the setting. What may differ in the supervisor’s technical recommendations may appear to be a criticism of the candidate’s analysis and complicate their mutual relationship.
