This study offers a reading of the Bionian concept of negative capacity, comparing it with Freudian notion of free-floating attention, while examining its relationship with the concepts of at-one-ment and empathy. Bion recommends that during a session the analyst should listen to the analytic dialogue while eschewing memory, desire and understanding, and should wait for the latter to surprise him. Listening to the here-and-now, as a matter of priority, setting aside the concrete reality of the patient, both past and present, and favouring the “oscillating” work of dreams and imagination: all this means for the analyst to adopt a receptive attitude that is very different from any form of “empathism”. Este trabajo propone una lectura del concepto biónico de capacidad negativa comparándolo con la atención flotante freudiana, examinando la relación con los conceptos at-one-ment y empatía. Bion recomienda al analista en sesión escuchar el diálogo analítico resistiendo a la memoria, al deseo y a la comprensión, y esperar que sean estos últimos quienes lo sorprendan. Privilegiar la escucha aquí y ahora, dejar entre paréntesis la realidad concreta, pasada y presente del paciente, favorecer el trabajo “oscilante” del sueño y de la imaginación: todo esto significa que el analista adopte una actitud receptiva muy diferente a cualquier forma de empatismo. In dieser Studie unterbreitet der Autor seine Lesart des Begriffs der negativen Fähigkeit von Bion und vergleicht ihn mit Freuds gleichschwebender Aufmerksamkeit. Dabei untersucht er dessen Beziehung zu den Begriffen ‚At-one-ment“ und Empathie. Bion empfiehlt dem Analytiker, in der Sitzung auf das Gedächtnis, den Wunsch und das Verständnis zu verzichten, stattdessen auf den analytischen Dialog zu hören und abzuwarten, bis die letzteren überraschend eintreten. Dem Zuhören im Hier und Jetzt den Vorrang zu geben, die vergangene und gegenwärtige konkrete Realität des Patienten vorläufig auszuklammern, die Arbeit zu begünstigen, die zwischen Traum und Phantasie oszilliert, all das trage zu dem Einklang bei, den die rezeptive Haltung des Analytikers anstrebt, im Gegenpol zu jeder Form von „Empathismus“.Questo studio propone una lettura del concetto bioniano di capacità negativa paragonandolo all’attenzione fluttuante freudiana, esaminando il rapporto che ha con i concetti di d’ at-one-ment e di empatia.
