The paper deals with the formation of ego and superego in times of waning boundaries of all kinds, acceleration, intensive stimulation by media, sensorial overexcitement, sexualization, violence and poor security of attachment. Separateness and relatedness at the same time both as the discrimination of internal and external become precarious. The ego with its inner space, initially a “ surface-being ” (Freud), tends to fragment once more into sensory surfaces – on the side of good and evil. Cairn free access
