They describe the opposition between the two approaches, as much with regard to the patient’s ideal expectations, as with regard to those of the person practising. They describe several real clinical situations and show the complexity and diversity of situations encountered by a therapist or a therapeutic team, certain patients who work over very little. Indeed, the two approaches are complementary in numerous cases. The physical and psychic availability of the therapist, his personal ideals can determine his attitude. The authors affirm the sometimes incredible efficiency of chimiotherapies. They underline the fact that the notion of therapeutic indication is in fact sometimes difficult to specify. They propose that an individualised response be adjusted in function of what they call a correct psychotherapeutic attitude, attentive to the patients’ psychic capacities and needs. Cairn free access
