By blending cultural references and focusing on the physical experience of the American territory, Snyder’s poetics portrays “Turtle Island” as a future transfiguration of the Anthropocene.By including a polymorphous otherness which relies on a diachronic exploration of past dynasties and traditions with a poetics of interrelatedness, Snyder pushes the boundaries of the quintessential American myth of the Frontier, thus offering the vision of a future territory that knows “no bounds” and enables all living things to be “all equal”.Cairn free access
