Furthermore, events of 9/11 secured the dominance of neo-conservatism, which in many ways runs counter to the tenets of political realism and has brought some change to the meaning of the word “exceptionalism”. There are reasons to believe that neo-imperialist thought will not disappear in the foreseeable future, thus making the current revival of the realist critique particularly significant.Cairn free access
