The objective of this presentation is to introduce some fundamental elements of Candomblé, highlighting the place that this religion occupies in Brazilian society, as well as hinting at some questions that this religious system poses to psychoanalysis. If Freud devoted so much of his work to the discussion of religion, why should we shy away from this topic, especially at a time when religion is present in the world in such controversial ways? By taking the monotheistic religion and the Judeo-Christian tradition as its main reference, would psychoanalysis not corroborate the colonialist (and racist) dimension of modern thought? In this context, we will emphasize questions around the notion of otherness, immediately presenting some fundamental elements of Candomblé, especially with regard to its place in Brazilian society, as well as its paradoxical relationship with Colonialism, i.e., the aspects of assimilation and transgression of the dominant culture. Then, in a dialogue with psychoanalysis, we will draw attention to the issues of the body and temporality, which develop in relation to otherness. The aim is to open avenues to reflect on certain provocations that this religious system brings to analytic experience. |

Si Freud dedicó gran parte de su obra a hablar de religión, ¿por qué deberíamos rehuir el tema, especialmente en un momento en que la religión está presente en el mundo de forma tan controvertida? Al tomar como principal punto de referencia la religión monoteísta y la tradición judeocristiana, ¿no estará el psicoanálisis corroborando la dimensión colonialista (y racista) del pensamiento moderno? En este contexto, nos centraremos en las cuestiones en torno a la noción de alteridad, comenzando con una presentación de algunos elementos fundamentales del Candomblé, especialmente en lo que respecta a su lugar en la sociedad brasileña, y su relación paradójica con el colonialismo, es decir, los aspectos de asimilación y transgresión de la cultura dominante. A continuación, en diálogo con el psicoanálisis, nos centraremos en las cuestiones del cuerpo y la temporalidad, que se despliegan en relación con la alteridad. El objetivo es dejar abierto el camino para que reflexionemos sobre ciertas provocaciones que este sistema religioso implica para la experiencia analítica.L’objectif de cet exposé est de présenter quelques éléments fondamentaux du candomblé, en soulignant la place que cette religion occupe dans la société brésilienne, ainsi qu’en laissant entrevoir quelques questions que ce système religieux peut engendrer pour la psychanalyse. Si Freud a consacré une si grande partie de son œuvre à la discussion de la religion, pourquoi devrions-nous esquiver ce sujet, surtout à un moment où la religion est présente dans le monde de manière si controversée ? En prenant pour référence principale la religion monothéiste et la tradition judéo-chrétienne, la psychanalyse ne corroborerait-elle pas la dimension colonialiste (et raciste) de la pensée moderne ? Dans ce contexte, on mettra en avant les questions autour de la notion d’altérité, présentant d’emblée quelques éléments fondamentaux du candomblé, surtout en ce qui concerne sa place dans la société brésilienne, ainsi que sa relation paradoxale avec le colonialisme – c’est-à-dire les aspects d’assimilation et de transgression de la culture dominante. Ensuite, en dialogue avec la psychanalyse, nous mettrons l’accent sur les problématiques du corps et de la temporalité, qui se déploient en relation avec l’altérité. Se Freud dedicou grande parte de sua obra à discussão da religião, por que deveríamos nos esquivar do assunto, especialmente numa época em que a religião está presente no mundo de forma tão controvertida? Ao tomar a religião monoteísta e a tradição judaico-cristã como seu principal ponto de referência, a psicanálise não estará corroborando a dimensão colonialista (e racista) do pensamento moderno? Nesse contexto, enfocaremos as questões que envolvem a noção de alteridade, começando com uma apresentação de alguns elementos fundamentais do Candomblé, especialmente no que diz respeito ao seu lugar na sociedade brasileira e à sua relação paradoxal com o colonialismo – ou seja, os aspectos de assimilação e transgressão da cultura dominante.
