In this article, we propose a working alliance between the critical realist network and the anti-utilitarian movement in the social sciences. Joining forces, we need to overcome the reigning positivism, utilitarianism and axiological neutrality so as to open the way to a philosophically informed new classical social theory that continues the venerable project of moral and political philosophy.
