Imagined after the artist’s return from his first stay in Rome, during which he was in contact with the Antique, but also with the art of Michelangelo. The Duchess d’Etampes’ chamber belongs to the realizations of the most effusive period of the Bolognese artist in Fontainebleau. The campaign of scientific analyses and the cleaning of the decoration carried out in 2021 at the Chateau of Fontainebleau allow, for the first time, a global study of this decoration and permits the formulation of several hypotheses as to its development.Cairn free access |
