In this article, accent is given to the continuous presentification of values in all judgment, tied to a constantly advancing present. Any present, marked by its own antagonisms, will see disagreements around the possible values attributable to a monument. Thus is introduced here the notion of an adversarial value or of a confrontation: the disagreement over the monument articulates a contemporary disagreement that becomes negotiable in the context of a heritage debate.Cairn free access
