This document also provides first rate information on the role played by Couder in the creation of the “decorations” of wallpaper during the decade of the 1830s, and allows us to attribute to him the paternity of the decoration Chasse et Pêche edited by the Lapeyre company, and considered as “the chef d’œuvre of its kind.” Finally, this letter bears first hand witness to the stylistic mutation taking place in the decorative arts after 1830, when the neo-Classic style give way to neo-Renaissance or more generally eclectic explorations.Cairn free access
