Sumari:The Russia-Ukraine war, all the more so since it takes place in Europe, is often considered to be the result of an irrational behavior on behalf of Russia. Such a perception is actually based on a confusion between two forms of rationality: axiological rationality, based on values, and instrumental rationality, oriented toward a goal. Postulating that war is but the mere continuation of foreign policy by other, that is, violent, means, this article on the contrary shows that Russia’s decision to invade Ukraine was perfectly rational.
